Position Summary
The Environmental Compliance Auditor is responsible for ensuring that projects for REJ Solutions clients comply with all applicable environmental regulations, permits, and company commitments. This role involves conducting inspections, reviewing compliance reports, and evaluating environmental documents to identify and resolve deficiencies. The Environmental Compliance Auditor provides expert advice to project teams, legal counsel, and leadership, ensuring that operations are aligned with federal, state, and local environmental standards. The role requires both independent judgment and collaborative teamwork with an interdisciplinary compliance team.
Multiple opportunities for this position may be available through various client contracts. Depending on the requirements set forth by the clients, the employee may be imbedded within the client agency, working in a hybrid environment, or undertaking totally remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct audits and evaluations to ensure project compliance with environmental regulations.
- Analyze environmental documentation, permits, and regulatory approvals for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to address non-compliance issues.
- Deliver technical assistance to maintain compliance with permits and environmental requirements.
- Develop and improve written compliance procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other teams to support environmental commitments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in performing audits, inspections, or compliance oversight.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulatory standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint, with the ability to learn new software tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to pivot priorities quickly.
- Ability to respond effectively to project needs on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced expertise in environmental compliance or related professional discipline.
- Experience collaborating with a wide range of regulatory agencies.
- Familiarity with specialized permits, such as those required by the U.S. Forest Service.
- Knowledge of tunnel design and its potential impact on permitting requirements.
